How we rate slots
What the Slotsyn rating is
An editor-set score out of 10, labelled "Slotsyn rating". There are two kinds of review.
Reviews in our new format are built on our own session on the official free demo at a low stake: base spins plus up to three bonus buys where the game has them. Each review's session table shows the exact numbers. An editor sets the Slotsyn rating after that session, weighing the session results with the studio's RTP, volatility, max win and features.
Older reviews have a Slotsyn rating set by an editor from four studio-published inputs:
- RTP: the return-to-player from the game rules / info screen.
- Volatility: as the studio states it.
- Max win: the studio's stated cap.
- Features: bonus rounds, modifiers, bonus buy, grid and lines.
For older reviews the score is editor judgement from those four inputs. There is no separate formula published beyond that.
What it is not
- Older reviews are not play tests. Their Slotsyn rating comes from the studio's numbers only, and the review says so next to the rating.
- Not real-money play. Sessions are played on the official free demo.
- Not paid. Casinos and studios can't buy a score. Affiliate links are disclosed.
- Not a promise of results. RTP is a long-run average. High volatility means big swings.
- Ratings are not shown as rating markup in search results.
Where the numbers come from
The studio's own game page and the in-game rules screen. Reviews in our new format add the results of our own demo session.
